University Professor, California State University, Northridge, Southern Utah University, and Consultant
After 12 years on the Board of Directors, I joined The W. Edwards Deming Institute® as Deputy Director. I collaborated with the Institute's leadership to guide its worldwide efforts. Today, as a member of the Advisory Council, I continue to mentor, facilitate, and advocate for the Institute’s aim of enriching society through the Deming Philosophy. Previously, I worked for Aerojet Rocketdyne in Canoga Park, California, as an Associate (Technical) Fellow, focused on "thinking about thinking" applied to the design and production of liquid rocket engines.
In my 26-year career “Rocketdyne” was owned by Rockwell International, Boeing, United Technologies, and Aerojet, I was well known for insights to the advantages of thinking, learning and working together. While integrating the management methods of Dr. Deming with Taguchi’s “Quality by Design” system and Ackoff's systems thinking, coupled with de Bono’s thinking tools, I pioneered the development of ideas that include Mixed Model Management, Macro System Models, Micro System Models, Purposeful Resource Leadership, Category & Continuum Thinking, and Investment Thinking.
Away from “Rocketdyne,” audiences for my presentations reached programs in elementary schools, graduate students at North-western University, and corporate, university, and public classes across the United Kingdom. My BS, MS, and Ph.D. are in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Inaddition to “Rocketdyne,” I worked as a heat transfer engineer in the gas turbine industry for Textron Lycoming in Stratford, Connecticut. In this role, I gained experience as an in-house problem- solver, facilitator, and instructor, working in critical Engineering-Manufacturing Task Forces.
Away from work, I was the founding president of the In2:InThinking Network (www.in2in.org), from 2001 through 2016. I live in Santa Clarita, California with my wife, Monica.
